I feel deeply about providing a natural and caring space for people to talk through issues and be empowered to choose their future.
Welcome, my name is Katherine.
I have two key passions in life: working to improve our natural environment and working to improve mental wellbeing.
I decided to become a counsellor in response to several life changing events and after seeing how mental health skills can help people in distress.
Selecting a counsellor is a very personal decision, and understanding a little about me may assist you in making your choice.
The word diagram below best encapsulates who I am - calm, caring, and thoughtful. These words were crafted with the input of family, friends and colleagues. I trust this provides you with an insight into who I will be during our counselling or coaching sessions.
A little bit more about me…
For me NN&R recognises that we all have set of circumstances that make us uniquely us!
Take me for an example, I grew up on a farm in a caring family with lots of animals and freedom to run. My greatest role models during this period were my parents, siblings, several important friends and one old horse.
However, even with this fortunate upbringing and then raising a family I quickly found that I needed more insight and tools for a life. As time went on life’s challenging events have taken me down a path of a deep understanding of what is important in the mental health space, particularly:
Why is life so hard and why do tragedies happen?
Do I have choices in the way I respond to life’s events? And if so, how?
What influences a person’s unhappiness or happiness?
How do I build my own mental wellbeing tool kit to give myself these skills and future directions?
How can I develop a positive and compassionate view to life in the midst of challenging circumstances?
We initially seek help to navigate through or away from our pain.
Over time we learn about mental wellbeing and learn to walk with happier and healthier minds.
This changes our life.
